Lot 504
2022 Napa County/Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon
750mlDescription
$100+/bottle under the original label
Lot 504 is truly one of a kind. Granted the directive and creative freedom to showcase their winemaking talents to pair with fine dining without the usual appellation restrictions of their in-house offerings, the result is an extraordinary Bordeaux-style marriage of 54% Napa and 46% Sonoma fruit – a gorgeous blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 3% Malbec. Not even available through their tasting room or web store, the only place one could previously access this was at a handful of select restaurants, where you’d have the privilege of shelling out over $100/bottle. Given the circumstances of the deal, we’re probably the only place in the world where this specific wine can be purchased.
A dark pour sets the stage for a richly layered nose dominated by black fruit and red clay, underpinned by crushed florals, dark chocolate, and cassis. A deeply structured entry of dark fruit, crushed gravel, and new, soft leather is bolstered by exceptional minerality and spice, with medium acidity and dry, grippy tannins. The finish is enduring and strikingly dry, with unexpectedly elegant vanilla notes for such a boldly built Cab. While it goes without saying, this is a steak wine through and through.
