2020 Eleveur Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes le Village Rouge is 100% Pinot Noir; a rich, yet balanced cuvée produced from three select vineyards in one of the most formidable appellations in all the Côte de Nuits. An outstanding wine from one of the top rated vintages of the past decade, it commands a domestic price of $1020/case before shipping charges (if it’s even available). A fabulous expression of Burgundy terroir packing all the punch of a Premier Cru at a fraction of the price.

Intensely colored on the pour, the wine soars out of the glass with immediate aromas of plum sauce, strawberries, and cherries, underscored by garden florals. The palate entry is bright and beautifully structured, with medium+ acidity carrying mocha and blackcurrant over tobacco leaf with well-integrated small, grippy tannins. The finish is dry and uplifted, with spices giving way to an interplay of vanilla and cherries before settling back into additional vanilla with great resonant length.
