Lot 423
2022 Alexander Valley Zinfandel
Description
$50/bottle under the original label
Lot 423 is declassified icon-level single-vineyard sourced with notoriously low yielding fruit, handled masterfully by a decorated winemaker. Produced in a state-of-the-art production facility, inoculated with local, native yeasts, then aged in all neutral American oak as a homage to the source's classic single-vineyard bottlings from this site in years past.
Pale ruby and very expressive on the pour, the nose is very pretty with red bramble fruit, herbs, and strawberries wrapped in cigar box, fresh cut dill, black peppercorns, and a full spice rack. The entry is exceptionally built with uplifted spice, rosemary, and strawberry compote framed by cranberry-like acidity washing away to leave firm, well integrated tannins - this is not a dark, overly jammy Zin, but an elegant and uplifted one. The finish is dry, and with great length; resonant strawberries accent vanilla and further, uplifted spice rack notes.
