2021 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

When the original winery sells this member's allocation-only juice, it goes for $1,500/case. Not here. A quick September call led to the opportunity to buy a few barrels worth of their 2021 surplus straight out of the winery and we're offering it to this list today with the finest provenance.

Rich aromatics of red fruit and currants are balanced by earthy tobacco leaf, dried herbs, and cloves that pull you deep into the glass - no lack of structure on the nose alone. The entry is what you'd expect of the superb '21 vintage; still a bit swaddled in baby fat, the core is stylistically classic Napa with the mid-palate exploding with structure, red-to-black fruit, perfectly balanced acidity, and earthy tones shifting to perfectly integrated tannins with exceptional minerality showing itself. The finish is still a bit youthful, showing classic barrel character of baking spice and vanilla, but underneath the berry-like umami is just waiting to breakout. The patient amongst us will be most rewarded here.
