Lot 201 | 2019 Russian River Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

93-POINTS, GOLD MEDAL
2021 SOMMELIERS CHALLENGE WINE COMPETITION

Here are my notes from the 2018 release of this same wine. I've updated the critics scores and notes (the 2018 recently received a 97 score from prominent critic) but, essentially, the tasting notes are the exact same. The 2019 is an incredible wine and I cannot recommend this highly enough for those of you who appreciate energy and verve in your Cabernet.

This is a gorgeous and expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. A rare varietal in the Russian River Valley, this wine benefits from the same Goldridge and Altamont soils that make the Russian River Valley such an incredible growing region for Pinot Noir.

Its fully ripe at 14.4% with one of the most expressive and lively noses you'll find on the north coast. The 2018 versions scored 93+- to 97-point scores from major reviewers with comments like "Super-Classic", "total-knockout", and "ridiculous value" and the 2019 is as good, if not better. Put this in Napa Valley and triple its $65 tag.

At $29, its an incredible opportunity to own one of the prettiest Cabernet's in the state and one that will age phenomenally over the next 10-15 years. If you like energy in your Cabernet, don't miss this one - I'm not.

Deep and inky in the glass with an ultraviolet purple rim that stains the glass with iridescence. Explodes from the glass with soaring cassis and black cherry notes wrapped in sweet florals, crushed volcanic rock and red clay. With air, blueberry jam and fresh tobacco leaf join the fray. Immaculately balanced, its dances across the palate with black currant and dark chocolate haloed by tobacco notes. Fantastic!
